A Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Thursday ordered the remand of the District Head, Mogaji of Budo Osho, Tanke area, Ilorin, AbdulGaniyu Akorede, in a Federal Correctional Service Centre for allegedly hiring hoodlums to disrupt the community’s peace.
Akorede was dragged to the court for allegedly hiring hoodlums to chase away people who bought land from the community.
He was taken to court after allegedly evading police arrest until a bench warrant was issued against him by the court.
According to the Police First Information Report, one Habeeb Abdullahi of Fate Road, Ilorin, reported the presence of suspected hoodlums on a disputed site at Budo Osho, when he was allegedly harassed by the suspected hoodlums hired by the Mogaji.
The report added that two suspects had one sharp cutlass and wraps of dried substance suspected to be Indian hemp among other incriminating items were recovered from them.
The Magistrate, Mr Hanafi Folorunsho, after listening to the submission of the prosecutor, ordered that Akorede be remanded in the Federal Correctional facility in Ilorin until the next hearing date.
The case was adjourned till April 26 for hearing.
