The Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, on Saturday went on patrol along the Abuja-Kaduna highway with some senior officers and others intending to ensure adequate security along the highway.
Usman assured that there was an adequate deployment of men and assets to protect lives and property along the highway, adding that the route was now safe.
Speaking to newsmen, the IGP said he had mapped out some salient and strategic points along the highway which were immediately fortified with the deployment of operatives drawn from the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Special Forces, Intelligence Response Team, the Special Tactical Squad as well as Airwing operatives in charge of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Nigeria Police Force.
Usman added that with the strategic and operational deployment of officers along the route, normalcy would once again be restored.

As part of efforts to boost their morale, USamn visited personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces and Police deployed to Rijana to secure technical crew of the Nigeria Railway Corporation undertaking repair works at the damaged train coaches and rail line in the axis.
