The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, Idrisu Dauda, on Wednesday, presented cheques valued N18.9 million to families/next-of-kin of police officers who died in active service.
The Police Commissioner did the presentation on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman.
The presentation was part of the IGP’s Family Welfare Insurance Scheme being given to families of deceased police officers.
The program, which took place at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, witnessed the presentation of various cheques containing different amounts of money to families of 20 deceased police officers who died in active service.
The Commissioner of Police, while presenting the cheques, appreciated the efforts of the Inspector-General of Police for improving the welfare of the officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, urging the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money.
Maryam Sabo who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked the IGP for the welfare package, assuring that the money would be judiciously used.
Meanwhile, the police command paraded no fewer than 18 suspects at its headquarters in Katsina, including a man alleged to be supplying vehicles to terrorists, Ibrahim Abdulrasheed of Unguwar Mai Darasu, Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina state.
Abdulrasheed was also described as an informant to terrorists.
