The Campaign Organisation for the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the forthcoming governorship poll, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday, dismissed insinuations that the ex-federal lawmaker was considering withdrawing from the poll owing to a rumoured crisis in his camp.
A report circulated through social media had claimed that there was infighting within Adeleke’s camp which was making him to consider withdrawing from the race.
But a statement by the spokesperson for the campaign organisation, Rasheed Olawale, which described the report that Adeleke may quit the race as fake, also said the claim that infighting was creating internal turmoil within the campaign organisation was untrue.
Olawale assured Adeleke’s supporters that the report allegedly circulated by the APC agent had no substance as it was a mere concoction.
The statement further read in part, “We want to place on records that the alleged legal crisis is a figment of the imagination of bad losers. As at today, Senator Adeleke has no legal constraint. Just yesterday, the Boot party withdrew their bogus court action with apologies. The APC agents supported by the APC lawyers are running round to secure relief where none exists in their bid to undermine the Peoples Democratic Party.
“Senator Adeleke is the official candidate of the PDP who enjoys the full backing of local and national leaders of the party. His inner and outer caucuses are in strong harmony and the campaign organisation is only waiting in compliance with INEC guidelines before kickstarting the campaigns. We assure the party members that there is no crack within the organisation and all hands are on deck to secure victory.
“On the National Assembly election, Senator Ademola Adeleke and his family have no preferred or anointed aspirant. The party’s guideline for candidate selection is clear and Senator Adeleke has repeated several times that he has no endorsed aspirant. The party delegates are to decide the eventual flagbearers for the National Assembly offices.”
