Four men, said to be bricklayers, have been arraigned before an Osogbo Chief Magistrate Court for threatening to kill Onigege of Igege, Oba Kazeem Adio.
The defendants, namely, Semiu Mujeeb, Kazeem Olasunkanmi, Rokibu Kabiru and Ismaheel Nurudeen, were also accused of malicious damage and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Rasaq Lamidi, had told the court that when the defendants appeared on Friday, they and others at large, between the month of January and February, 2022, committed the offences at Igege community in Iwo Magisterial District.
He further said that the defendants “did willfully and unlawfully damage palm trees and other economic trees, value yet unknown, property of Oba Kazeem Adio.
“Did threaten the life of Oba Kazeem Adio and others by using guns, cutlasses, axes and other dangerous weapon.”
The offences committed were said to be contrary to and punishable under Section 86 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34 Vol. II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2002.
The defendants pleaded not guilty and their counsel, Okobe Najite applied for their bail.
But the application was opposed by the prosecutor.
In his ruling, the magistrate, D.r Olusegun Ayilara, remanded the defendants in Ilesha Correctional Centre.
He then adjourned the matter till April 14, 2022 for mention in Iwo Magistrate court.
