The Lagos State Government in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development has organised a sensitisation forum for independent monitors and stakeholders deployed to the state.
The Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mrs Yetunde Arobieke, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
Arobieke, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Olujimi Ige, was quoted to have said this during an orientation workshop held in Lagos.
She said, “Independent monitors were engaged to track the various activities of the National Social Investment Programmes which includes N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfer, Government Conditional Cash Transfer, Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme and Home Grown School Feeding ongoing in Lagos State.
“The forum also addressed the use of the Social Investment Management Information System application and received various reports on the NSIP in the state with the hope that a corridor of communication will be opened to synergise on the implementation plan, projection and resolutions on matters associated with the four programmes and further expose the independent monitors to the guidelines of NSIP and state policies.”
The Special Adviser on Monitoring and Evaluation, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Mr Idris Shehu, urged the independent monitors to ensure proper use of resources to achieve the goal of the schemes.
“I implore all the independent monitors present to ensure judicious use of the resources allocated to fulfill the objectives of the programmes in the state. This workshop enabled independent monitors to be acquainted with the scope of work of the consultant as well as report on the NSIP. They were also re-orientated on monitoring of NSIP programme and were put through technical trainings on SIMIS App especially the downloading and usage,” he said.
