PUNCH Metro gathered that the leakage, which stemmed from rustic pipeline, had thrown residents of the community as well as motorists plying the expressway into pandemonium, for the fear of the unknown.
Many motorists along the expressway were sighted on Sunday night and early Monday morning suddenly making detour as they frantically sought alternative routes in continuation of their journey.
Local sources hinted that there was an explosion which reportedly shook buildings in the community resulting from the leaked gas pipeline.
It was also gathered that many residents of the community had already abandoned their homes for fear of fire outbreak.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, who earlier confirmed gas pipeline explosion in the locality, later reverted saying “it was a leakage not explosion.”
