A Nigerian-owned commercial airline, AZMAN air scheduled to convey passengers to Saudi Arabia, was on Friday partly gutted by fire.
According to our sources, within the airport vicinity, the aircraft scheduled for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was about to take off from the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, when the incident occurred.
The aircraft was scheduled to airlift passengers from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Makia, to the Mecca for Umrah pilgrimage when fire was noticed at the lower part of the aircraft.
Also, our correspondent observed that in the early hours of Friday, a video clip went viral on social media, showing those who escaped the potential disaster sharing their experiences with sympathisers at the Airport premises.
When contacted for confirmation via text message, the police spokesman for Makia, DSP Olayinka Ojelade, confirmed the incident.
