The mother of one made this disclosure while speaking with actress, Stephanie Coker, on her podcast “Me, Her and Everything Else”.
The duo had a conversation about the increasing reports of sexual abuse and rape in both boarding and day schools in the country, and the tactical steps parents can take to tackle the menace.
Tania, who hinted that she attended a boarding secondary school, disclosed that 95% of her male friends were deflowered by either their nannies, other home staff or aunties.
According to her, it’s really sad because majority of these boys were not aware that they were being sexually abused, and thought it was normal to be touched by their abusers.
Speaking further, Tania advised parents to sexually educate their children and let them know that it’s wrong for any adult – either male or female – to touch their private parts.
Her words,
“Almost every boy, maybe 95% of the boys I know from Nigeria were disvirgined by their nannies, or staff or aunties. But that’s also because they are not educated about it, they don’t know… they think it’s normal, they think it’s okay, so it’s up to you as a parent to tell your kids that it’s not okay for an adult to touch you down there.. it’s not okay for anyone, either male of female.”
