A spokesman for the group, Mayor Samuel, who spoke to newsmen, said they were there to beg Goodluck Jonathan’s forgiveness for voting him out in 2015.
“We were deceived and brainwashed by those who claimed they could do it in 2015. Now, we know better, under Jonathan the minimum wage could buy one or two bags of rice. What do we have today? We are begging President Jonathan to forgive us, we have realized our mistakes, we want him back to complete what he started.” He said.
In photos from the protest that were posted online, the protesters are seen holding placards that read, “Goodluck Jonathan, you must run.. We need you to restore Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, Nollywood actor, Imeh Okon, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has advised ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan to ignore the call to run for president in the 2023 general elections.
According to him, Jonathan should not run for president again regardless of how much he’s been wooed because too much damage has been done to the country after his exit in 2015, and there’s only little he can do to fix it.
“Rumors have it that Goodluck is being wooed to run for president again. Abeg your excellency, as tempting as it may, Dont. Too much damage is done and there is too little you can do to fix it in just a term. Imagine bringing in Ronaldo in 90+2 mins to turn around the fortunes of a team that is down by 7 nil! What will he do? Magic?? Remain the legend and hero you are sir. Duck the bait!”
