A prominent politician from Rivers State and former minister of Aviation as well as former minister of youths, sports, and culture, Alabo Tonye Graham-Douglas is dead.
Graham-Douglas, born 8th May 1939 was appointed Nigeria’s Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture in 1989, then Minister of Aviation during General Ibrahim Babaginda’s cabinet.
In 1999, he was appointed Minister of Labour and Productivity, and in 2000, Minister of Tourism in the Olusegun Obasanjo cabinet, leaving office in January 2001.
News of the elder statesman’s demise filtered into Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday morning, though there is no official confirmation from the family.
But a close source from Kalabari land who pleaded anonymity confirmed the death to our correspondent, saying he has been battling an undisclosed ailment.
Late Graham-Douglas who hails from Abonnema in the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State was also a Commissioner for Youths, Sports, and Culture in the state.
