According to reports, the clergyman claims he married the women because the Bible is in support of it and that he adopted the idea of polygamy from the Holy Bible.
Pastor Chiluza, who already had a wife before getting married to four more women, encouraged other men to practice polygamy because the Bible is not against it.
According to Afrimax English, the clergyman always quotes scriptures to justify his decision to marry multiple wives, and show that “polygamy is not a sin”.
He was quoted as saying at his wedding ceremony, “I have one wife already and today I’m going to marry these four. They will join the first wife.”
Using Jacob in the Bible as an example, the clergyman who claimed to have gotten saved in 1986, said Jacob had four wives – Leah and Rachel, then Bilha and Zilpa.
“Jacob had many wives Leah and Rachel, then Bilha and Zilpa…four wives for one man,” he said, maintaining that his idea of polygamy originated from the bible.
Online sources claim the clergyman married all his four new wives as virgins at his church in Eastern Congo.
