THE Federal Operations Unit, Zone B, Kaduna Nigeria Customs Service, has said that the service made a total of 96 seizures of different contraband goods with duty paid value of N232 million between March 23 and April 25, 2022.
In a statement released on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Mailafiya Magaji, the Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Al Bashir Hamisu, said that among the items seized were: 1,314 bags of foreign parboiled Rice, 219,000 tablets of Ladinax and Sifdol, an unregistered pharmaceutical product.
“Seizures made comprise 1,314 bags of foreign parboiled rice, a total of 219,000 tablets of Ladinax and Sifdol (both unregistered pharmaceuticals), 642 cartons of foreign spaghetti and macaroni, 303 kegs of Premium Motor Spirit 25 litre size.
“Prominent among the interceptions made were 15 bags of 100kg beans containing foreign parboiled rice ingeniously concealed with the beans, 94 bales of foreign second-hand clothing, and 49 pieces of used tyres, amongst other general trade goods.”
Hamisu thanked the general public for their cooperation in offering information which had greatly helped the unit in tackling cases of smuggling and identification of inconspicuous concealments.
