Former President Goodluck Jonathan and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday, commiserated with the family of Tonye Graham-Douglas, on the death of the former minister.
The former President described the late Graham-Douglas as an elder statesman who diligently served his country and the people of Rivers State to the best of his abilities.
Jonathan wrote in a condolence letter, “His records in the Ministries of Aviation, Tourism, and Labour and Productivity and Youth, Sports and Culture where he served variously as a minister are eloquent testimonies of his patriotism and commitment to our national goals.
“Late Graham-Douglas was also an accomplished crusader for equity, justice, and fairness and a dependable voice for the rights of the minorities, especially people of the Niger Delta.”
Also, Wike expressed shock over Graham-Douglas’death.
In a statement by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, the governor said the state had lost one of its worthiest sons.
The statement read, “His death is indisputably the passing of an era. He was a colossus in public life; he served our dear Rivers State and the nation with the spirit of patriotism. The state has lost one of its worthiest sons.
“On behalf of the government and good people of Rivers State, I express my profound condolences to the Graham Douglas family and those who mourn his passing.”
