There was a surprise on Thursday as 17 children of a former House of Representatives member representing Zaria and Kaduna State governorship aspirant, Sani Sha’aban, stormed the International Conference Centre, Abuja, to obtain the N50m expression of interest and nomination forms for their father.
Following the beehive of activities at the APC National Secretariat on Wednesday, the party relocated its sale of forms exercise to the international conference centre for all Electoral offices.
A close party source had revealed to our correspondent that asides from Wednesday’s incident where at least $75,000 went missing, the boisterous nature of activities at Buhari House inconvenienced the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.
At the ICC, the 17 sons and daughters of Sha’aban told journalists that they decided to purchase the forms for their father because he represents hope for the state.
Speaking on behalf of the children, Asmau Sani-Sha’aban, said though their father was not in the country, they believed in his capacity to lead the state.
Sani-Sha’aban noted that asides from the rampant insecurity, the El-Rufai administration has made incredible strides in the development of the state
She said: “We are here today because we, as his (Sha’aban) children, have gathered together and decided to purchase the governorship form. He’s not around actually and we wanted to give this to him as a gift.
“We will like to believe that he has a higher chance of winning for Kaduna State because the people love him, the people admire him, and he is a person who relates with the people, he’s a person who has empathy.”
She added that the Sha’aban administration would treat the insecurity troubling Kaduna as a matter of urgency. She noted that the spate of insecurity was amplified by widespread unemployment in the state.
“We believe the number one thing is the issue of insecurity in Kaduna state. He (Sha’aban) believes the insecurity was a result of a lack of jobs for the people because if there were enough jobs, the insecurity wouldn’t be as bad as it is today.
“He would like to create more job opportunities for people so that idle people running around creating insecurity,” she said.
