The National Health Insurance Scheme has called on stakeholders to work together in order to achieve universal health coverage.
According to the NHIS, there is a need for stakeholders to address critical issues affecting the health insurance industry.
Speaking during the interactive stakeholders’ forum held recently in Lagos, the General Manager of the Lagos Zonal Office, Mr Olufemi Akingbade, emphasised that the forum is a platform to provide updates on key reforms and initiatives of the scheme.
“It serves as a vehicle of information dissemination and a feedback source from other key players in the health insurance ecosystem,” Akingbade said.
Also, a General Manager and Head of the Standards and Quality Assurance Department, Dr Abraham Bethuel-Kasimu, said the flagship Group, Individual, Family Social Health Insurance Programme, will mandatorily cover all serving members of the National Youth Service Corps.
Tagged GIFSHIP-n, the programme will provide a comprehensive benefit package which will cover emergency medical services and out-of-station care.
In her presentation, a senior manager in the enforcement unit, Ms Ibukun Olugbode, said in line with its commitment to providing responsive service to its enrolees, a complaint mechanism had been instituted by the scheme.
She stressed that this mechanism was available virtually, which would enable aggrieved stakeholders within Lagos to seek redress remotely.
