The Methodist Church Nigeria, Archdiocese of Lagos Mainland, is currently hosting Prelate, Dr. Samuel Uche, as part of events marking the end of his tenure as the head of the church in Nigeria.
The Chairperson, Publicity Committee, Archdiocese of Lagos Mainland, Reverend Cessy Ogunaike, made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Lagos.
The statement said the Prelate, who was accompanied by his wife, was touring three other dioceses namely: Diocese of Lagos Central, Diocese of Lagos West, and Diocese of Lagos North, which made up the entire Archdiocese.
The tour started on Tuesday with a service at Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba, by 12 noon.
According to the Chief host, the Archbishop of Lagos Mainland, Most Reverend Obafemi Adeleye, the Prelate will be celebrating some landmark achievements of the Archdiocese during his tour.
He said, “We are delighted to welcome our spiritual leader, Dr Kanu Uche, to our great Archdiocese of Lagos Mainland as he gradually counts down to the end of his stewardship as the Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria.
“During this week-long visit, he will be celebrating some landmark achievements of the Archdiocese with us like the commissioning of the new Science Laboratory and block of classrooms at Methodist Girls High School, Yaba, Lagos, amongst other memorable events.”
The Archdiocesan Lay President, Benjamin Oshadiya, said, “The entire members of our dear Archdiocese are excitedly prepared to give our Prelate a befitting send forth going by the series of activities lined up by the Archdiocese together with the various Dioceses during this farewell tour.
“We look forward to a successful outing that will be rounded off with a thanksgiving service at Hoare’s Memorial Methodist Cathedral, Yaba, by 10am on Sunday, May 1, 2022.”
