The Federal University, Dutsin-Ma Continuing Education Centre, is to establish five study centres across Katsina state to boost its outreach programmes and provide an avenue for residents to have access to university education as well as boost teaching and learning in the state.
The centres were to be located in Malumfashi, Charanchi, Funtua, Daura and Katsina Local Government Areas, according to a statement by the institution’s public relations officer, Mallam Habibu Aminu.
The statement was made public in Katsina on Wednesday.
The statement revealed that approval for the establishment of the five centres had been granted by Katsina State Government in a letter received by the university CEC Director.
The letter conveying the approval signed by the state Director, Senior Secondary Schools, Yau Jibrin explained that the state commissioner of Education had approved the setting up of the centres with high regards.
The University Vice Chancellor Prof. Armayau Bichi had, meanwhile, welcomed the development which was in line with his aspiration and determination to expand the frontiers of the university within and outside the state.
Bichi expressed his appreciation to the government for the approval and assured that the centres would go a long way in providing access to quality education to the teeming populace of the state as well as bringing tertiary education closer to people.
