The people of Ebem Ohafia community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State have called on the Federal Government to come to their rescue following a ravaging menace of erosion in the community.
It was gathered that the palace of the paramount ruler of Ebem Ohafia, His Royal Highness, Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, has also come under heavy threat as a result of development.
Residents of the community lamented that they were overwhelmed by the erosion, having exhausted their resources to ensure that it was brought under control but to no avail.
The President-General of Ebem Ohafia Development Union, Mr. Emeka Mba, told our correspondent that the erosion sites in the community were too many, urging the intervention of Federal Ministries of Works, Environment and other relevant authorities.
He said the challenge was overwhelming to the manpower and resources of the people, stating that if urgent steps were not taken to address the erosion, the people of Ebem would be wiped out of existence in the coming years.
