The pastor-in-charge of Dunamis Chapel, Diamond Estate of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Province 7, Toyin Olagoke, has made a case for the involvement of Christians in politics.
He also urged Nigerians to rededicate their lives to God for peace to reign in the country.
Olagoke spoke in an interview with our correspondent shortly after the church’s seventh anniversary on Sunday in Lagos.
During the event which was tagged ‘The Awesome God,’ worshippers were treated to drama presentations and musical performances by different groups.
Speaking to our correspondent, Olagoke said people’s lives would be perfected if they moved closer to God.
He said, “We thank God for his mercies and the successful seventh anniversary of the Dunamis Chapel. It has not been smooth sailing all the way. We have had challenges especially when we lost some of our members due to COVID-19 and other issues.
“This year’s event is tagged ‘Awesome God’ and there is a reason for that. God is perfect and since the number seven is for perfection, no better way than to call on the awesome God for the perfection of our lives.
“Look at the society, it is not perfect yet we can make it perfect by rededicating our lives to God. Many things that we are seeing today in society show rottenness and this is not good for society. This is why we as responsible citizens of the society should move closer to God in order for Him to perfect our lives.”
The pastor also stressed the importance of Christians in the political process of the nation, adding that it is the duty of everybody to contribute their quota to making politics clean.
He said, “Christians’ involvement in the political process of our nation? Yes! They should get involved, not only Christians but everybody. They say politics is a dirty game, well, when those with clean minds get there, they would clean up the dirt, and lay the foundation for an institutional change process that would stand the test of time.
“What we pray for is that God should give us good leaders to help move this nation forward. We have no other nation. The awesome God of perfection would help us. When God gives us transformational leaders, you would see that all these issues of violence that we are presently experiencing would be a thing of the past.”
The chairman of the anniversary committee, Joel Makoji, said, “We are in the process of perfection and we believe that with God’s help, we shall get there because a perfect church is made up of perfect families and perfect families are blessings to the society at large.”
