The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has urged Nigerians to have confidence in the ability of the military.
He also assured Nigerians to expect greater levels of security in the country, especially at this period of elections.
Irabor stated this on Thursday at the end of the four-day Defence Retreat in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
He said, “Nigerians should remain confident in the ability of the armed forces as we work in consonant with other security agencies to border security issues.
“The insurgency, kidnapping, banditary and others will be a thing of the past. Nigeria will certainly have a greater level of safety, that is the essence of this Defence Retreat in Asaba.
“If there were no problems in Nigeria, we wouldn’t have come here to deliberate and brainstorm on the security issues; looking at current and future and chanting out ways that it could significantly boost the security disposition that we have currently.
“With this retreat, Nigeria is safe because far reaching decisions have been made.”
He said that the National Military Strategy launched on Monday during the opening ceremony would serve as a compass for the Armed Forces.
