The biggest game of the matchday 28 of the Nigeria Professional Football League will see Remo Stars welcome Enugu Rangers to Ikenne on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Both sides have a lot to play for as the chase for next season’s continental ticket heats up.
The Sky Blues Stars, as they are fondly called, are fourth on the log with 43 points, and a win today will see them leapfrog their visitors who occupy the fourth position with 45 points.
The game will also see Gbenga Ogunbote face off against his former employers.
Rangers have not lost to Remo Stars in the five times they have met on a competitive level with three matches ending in a draw while claiming two victories.
Speaking ahead of the game, Rangers head coach, Abdul Maikaba, fired a warning to their hosting saying his sides are coming to Ikenne for a win as they hope to consolidate on their current position.
“We have prepared for the Remo Stars match like any other game but what is special about the match is that we are contending for a position with them on the log.
“The destiny of taking a deserved leap over them is in our own hands. We have to leave Ikenne with a very good result and I believe that with what I saw from the players in training, we shall have a good result in Ikenne and consolidate on achieving our set target for the season.”
