The Queen’s School Ede, Ibadan Old Girl’s Association has concluded plans to inaugurate a building project in honor of Ameyo Stella Adadevoh on Saturday, April 21, at Queen’s School, Ibadan.
Adadevoh, the late Ebola amazon and heroine, was a 1969-73 alumna of Queen’s School, Ibadan.
The alumnae association described the late Adadevoh as a worthy role model who exemplified what students and worthy citizens of Nigeria should aspire to be.
The President of Queen’s School Ede/Ibadan Old Girl’s Association, who is a medical doctor and former Provost and Medical Director of the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Mrs Taiwo Adamson, emphasised the importance of celebrating heroes and heroines in Nigeria.
“This will help to engender positive modelling spirits in the younger generations,” she said.
She emphasised further that “cherished societal values and ideals are now on short display in the society, as a result of compromised old cherished values and ideals”.
She stated that Ameyo stood out among the pack and among her peers.
The National Publicity Officer of QSOGA, Mrs Funlola Ajogbasile, expressed delight in actualising the project within one year of its launching on May 22, 2021.
She commended philanthropists and donors for the project.
Expected at the ceremony is the chief launcher of the project, the legendary father of philanthropy Sir Kesington Adebukunola Adebutu OON, CON The Oodole Odua, who will commission the project, the Former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo GCFR, His Excellency Mr Seyi Makinde, the executive governor of Oyo State, the former two time Federal Minister of Trade & Industry, Chief (Mrs) Dr. Onikepo Akande OON, CON, and the Iyalaje, Iyaloja of Ibadan Land, herself an alumna of the school.
Others are royal fathers, the Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo OFR, Okukenu the IV and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedapo Tejuoso CON the Osile of Oke-Ona, Egba Karunwi 111, captains of industries, Dr Olawale Omobolanle Babalakin SAN, Chairman Bi-Courtney Group of Companies, Dr Layi Fatona, the Managing Director Delta Exploration & Production company among other dignitaries.
