Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi
Deputy Chief Whip of the 9th Senate, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, has debunked reports of his withdrawal from the 2023 Senatorial race.
His denial was at the backdrop of reports in some news outlets that he has withdrawn from the race to pave way for the incumbent governor, Sani Bello who would be completing his second tenure of office in 2023.
He described as mischief, the reports that he has withdrawn from the race, noting that those who planted the report were afraid of his growing political popularity, hence, they cooked the fake report ahead of the 25th May 2022 Senatorial primary election.
The Senator representing Niger North Senatorial District said this in his hometown in New Bussa, the headquarters of Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State when he addressed party delegates and supporters ahead of the party primary.
“My presence here before you, men and women of goodwill is to affirm that I am still very much in the race for Niger North Senatorial seat, I have not withdrawn and I have no intention to withdraw.”
He maintained that he is not in any way moved by the number of aspirants jostling for his seat at the Senate, saying that although he knows that the people are strongly behind him, “Allah is the ultimate giver of power, he gives power to whoever he wishes”.
