An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Wednesday, sentenced two persons, Stella Akinbobola and Adewumi Opeyemi, to 12 years’ imprisonment for land invasion.
While Akinbobola bagged seven years, Opeyemi was jailed for five years.
The duo were arrested alongside one Tope Ojopaun by the police over unlawful invasion of land in Ondo town.
They were thereafter arraigned before the court on charges bordering on forcible entry and conspiracy to commit felony.
After arguments from the defence and prosecution counsel, Justice Williams Olamide found the duo guilty of the charge and sent them to prison.
He also discharged and acquitted the third defendant, Ojopaun.
However, the judge gave Akinbobola a fine option of N250,000 on each of the charges, while Opeyemi was given a fine option of N100,000 on count one to count four.
