After what could be adjudged as one of the keenest and tightest contests, Dozie Nwankwo has emerged the winner of the Anambra Central senatorial zone, polling 162 votes.
Nwankwo defeated a former chairman of the party, Senator Victor Umeh, who polled 151 votes.
The APGA primary which was held at Dora Akunyili Women Development Center, Agu Awka, Anambra State, amid tight security had the returning officer, Barrister Elizabeth Nwokocha, announcing Dozie Nwankwo as the winner.
Hon Uzuegbunam Okagbue, who had earlier withdrawn from the contest before the take off got 10 votes.
The delegates who voted were from the seven Local Governments Areas that made up the senatorial zone, which includes Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Dunukofia, Idemili North, Idemili South, and Njikoka.
