Fiorentina have turned their attention to Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers after being priced out of a move for Krzysztof Piatek, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Piatek is valued at €15m by Hertha Berlin but the Viola see Dessers as a more valuable option to the Polish striker who could only score three goals in 14 games during his loan spell at the club a report on Voetbal Primeur revealed.
The 27-year-old who was on a season loan at Feyenoord, where he scored 20 goals and recorded six assists in 44 games for the Dutch club is available for has a release clause of €4m according to several reports in Belgium.
Dessers striker who is currently on international duty with Nigeria finished as the UEFA Conference League top scorer with 10 goals from 13 games.
Meanwhile, Genk has confirmed that Dessers would be returning to the club ahead of next season after Feyenoord officially informed them that they would not exercise the Nigerian striker’s purchase option.
“Feyenoord has officially informed our club that it will not activate Cyriel Dessers’ purchase option,” a club statement noted.
“This means that Dessers will rejoin Genk in preparation. We wish Dessers good luck with the international competitions and are looking forward to seeing you again in blue and white.”
The Nigeria international left Genk on transfer deadline last summer after compatriot Paul Onuachu overshadowed him.
