In what can be likened to be a move to pick the running mate for Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyiochia Ayu, and members of the committee set up for the purpose, are currently holding a closed-door meeting.
The meeting is being held at the party’s National Secretariat.
The PUNCH had reported that speculations were that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State could emerge as Atiku’s running mate.
People in the meeting include the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Tambuwal; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; former Senate President, David Mark; former Ondo State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko; former Cross River State Governor, Liyel Imoke, and Senator Philip Aduda, among others.
According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, parties have until June 17, 2022, as the final day for the submission of candidates for the presidential election.
