The former Vice President arrived at this decision on Thursday morning, June 16, after he was asked to choose between three shortlisted candidates by the National Working Committee of the party.
They handpicked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Ifeanyi Okowa, and Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom state.
After critically evaluating the candidates, Atiku choose Okowa as his running mate and said it’s because he has “presidential qualities”.
At the unveiling ceremony, it was said that the choice is in the best interest of the party.
Meanwhile, Nigerians are still waiting for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the flagbearer of the ruling party, All Progressives Congress party (APC), to pick his running mate.
In other news, Veteran Nigerian singer, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has said he will leave Nigeria for Ghana if Tinubu or Atiku Abubakar wins the 2023 Presidential election.
The self-styled number one Area father stated this on Twitter after the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was announced as the winner of the APC Presidential Primaries.
Meanwhile, former vice president, Atiku Abubukar is also vying for presidency on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, June 8, Charly Boy wrote,
“If any of these two jabagantis win, I go just leave una walker go Ghana, go beg dem for citizenship. Buhari, will look like a saint.”
