Rising singer, Lade, has said that the success of her trending song, Adulthood Anthem was beyond her expectation.
The song is currently one of the most used for videos on social media.
In an interview with Sunday Scoop, Lade said the attention the song attracted blew her mind. She said, “I feel blessed and honored. It is beyond my expectations, if I must be honest. I am grateful.”
Elaborating on what inspired the song, she said, “The song basically encourages people to hustle hard. They should know that they cannot rely on anyone for help all the time. There is no manual on how to live as an adult. Childhood made us feel like there was some sweet and special thing that came with growing up. But, the only things that come with it are responsibilities.”
On if she feels pressured to put in more work than her male colleagues, Lade said, “I don’t feel pressured. I just feel it is important to always improve myself and my craft. I am always focused on being a better version of myself. I am my only competition. As long as I keep evolving and I keep delivering, it is fine by me.”
Lade also added that she is open to working with any artiste. She said, “I am open to working with anybody, as long as their sound inspires me. I have a long list and we are only just getting started.”
Asked if she agrees that female artistes see themselves more as competitors than contemporaries, she said, “I have not noticed any kind of competition. Everyone is unique in their own way and the sky is wide enough for everyone to fly. I wish everyone love and light.”
