Anderlecht have completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Ishaq Abdulrazaq, the Belgian club announced on Monday.
The 20-year-old joined the Jupiler League side from Sweden’s Norrkoping for an undisclosed transfer fee.
“The first summer transfer is here. RSC Anderlecht have reached an agreement with Swedish club Norrkoping concerning the definitive transfer of Ishaq Abdulrazak,” Anderlecht said in an official statement on Monday.
“He signs a contract for four seasons at our club.
“Ishaq is a 20-year-old Nigerian who is comfortable as a wing-back, but can just as well play in various positions in midfield.”
Ishaq, who made 62 appearances for Norrkoping, scoring two goals and making seven assists from central midfield, noted that the move was a big step for his young career.
“This is a big step up for me, one that I’m very proud of,” he said.
“I want to prove my worth to the team as soon as possible and I am looking forward to meeting my teammates and the fans.”
Anderlecht CEO Peter Verbeke stated that the club had been monitoring the Kaduna-born player for some time.
“We have been following Ishaq for quite a while and we are very happy that we can add him to the group now,” Verbeke said.
“Ishaq has a lot of physical qualities; he is fast, agile, has volume and plays with aggressiveness. On the other hand, he also has a lot of technical abilities, which makes him a versatile player.”
