To mark the 30th anniversary of their graduation from their alma mater, the 1992 set of the Association of Mass Communication Graduates of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, have renovated a television studio in the Mass Communication Department.
The Chairman of AMACOG 92, Mr. Adekunle Adeshina, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, adding that the anniversary scheduled to hold on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the school, would allow the old students to support the department in key areas.
The presentation of the renovated studio is expected to be attended by the Acting Rector, MAPOLY, Adeoye Odedeji; the Head of Department, Mass Communication Department, Mr. Lekan Togunwa; and the Olota of Ota, Prof. Adeyemi Obalanlege, who is also a member of the association.
Adeshina said, “We have renovated a television studio in the Mass Communication Department and installed modern equipment which will aid the impartation of modern education and practical skills in contemporary media practice to the current and future students.
“We cannot allow 30 years of our graduation from the school to pass away unnoticed and uncelebrated. Many of our members have grown in their fields, but don’t forget that they started their tertiary education in this place.
“In this unique set, we have editors of national newspapers, publishers, general managers of radio and television stations, proprietors of broadcast stations, directors in both state and federal ministries, a first-class traditional ruler, and many outstanding professionals.”
The AMACOG chairman noted that the event was organised by the set to give back to the school through the department.
“The one-day event would be rounded off with a dinner on Friday, and this would allow the old course mates to network and exchange ideas on how to move the association and the department forward,” he added.
