The Lagos State Police Command on Thursday said it arrested two men suspected of forging vehicle registration documents for unsuspecting members of the public.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the two men were arrested last week following credible intelligence that they defrauded people by producing fake vehicle documents and impersonated officials of the Lagos State Vehicle Licensing Office.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hudeyin, in a statement on Thursday, said the suspects, Owoade Olushola, and Salaudeen Sherif, were arrested in Ikeja.
He said, “Salaudeen, a security man at the Lagos State Electricity Board, Ikeja, was arrested for aiding and abetting by allowing Olushola use his security post to run his illicit business. Investigation reveals that the suspects have been in the business since February 2021.
“Items recovered from the suspects include one laptop, one printer, fake Inspector General of Police letterheads, fake tinted permits and fake vehicle particulars.
“The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, has directed that the suspects be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.”
