A suspected cable thief, one Omotayo Oni, has been arrested for allegedly stealing cables inside the Deeper Life Bible Church State Headquarters in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Ogun So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf, who disclosed this on Friday, said Oni was arrested at about 5:30am on Wednesday when its officers from the Lotto division were on routine patrol of the axis.
Yusuf added that Oni attempted to bolt when the security officers wanted to find out where he got the cables in his possession from but was arrested by members of the state-owned security outfit.
Saying that the suspect was interrogated without torture, Yusuf said Oni “confessed to having stolen the cables around the spot he was nabbed.”
He said, “It took the team hours to get to the actual place where the cables were stolen as he took them to many wrong locations before he opened up and mentioned that the crime was perpetrated in Deeper Life Church, State Headquarters. At the church, the chief security officer and others were surprised and asked him how he managed to escape being caught by the security team of the church.”
City Round gathered that the suspect would be prosecuted upon completion of investigation.
