According to data made available by INEC on Monday, 14,137,024 Nigerian youths between the ages of 18 and 34 have registered with the commission to obtain their PVCs.
The Founder of Anap Foundation, Atedo Peterside, on the group’s Twitter handle, disclosed that the feat was achieved in collaboration with media houses and other partners of his organisation.
“GoNigeria began its youth registration drive hoping to get 15 million youths aged 18-34 years to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards.
“As of June 27, INEC has registered 14,137,024 youths. We thank INEC and other media houses such as AriseTv and Channels, Go Ambassadors, GoPartners, and GoVolunteers,” he tweeted.
The INEC data noted that the youth, the middle aged, elderly, and people living with disabilities were also registered, culminating in a total of over 23 million registered citizens.
“The distribution of thosewho registered based on agegroup are 14,137,024 youths(ages 18-34); 6,280,190middle-aged (ages35-49);2,778,232 elderly (ages 50-69); and 364,597 old (aged 70and above).
“Based on gender,12,317,693 men and 11,242,080 women registered and the number of People living With Disabilities who registered were 187, 904,” it said.
