Our correspondent gathered that no fewer than 10 lawmakers have signed a document requesting for a change of leadership excluding the speaker.
The lamwakers in a letter dated 14th June, 2022 and addressed to the Speaker said the change of House leadership would allow other members rare privileges of leading the House and enhance their respective profiles.
The letter which was signed by over 10 aggrieved members and obtained on Saturday demanded change in leadership in position of Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader, Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Leader and Deputy Chief Whip.
The letter read partly, “We the under-listed Honourable members of the 9th Assembly, hereby demand for a change of Principal office holders of the House.
“This is to allow other members of the 9th Assembly for the rare privileges to also leading the House, and enhance their respective profiles for the remaining tenure of this 9th Assembly.”
Reacting to the move, Oluomo confirmed the development, but said it was being resolved.
Oluomo said he had waded into the issue and had been able to convince three of the aggrieved lawmakers to withdraw their signatures.
He said “My official reaction is that its true but we are talking to ourselves, in fact three members have withdrawn their signatures, read well, am not one of those listed for removal.
“It is normal to list names but only 11 signed, out of which three have equally withdrawn.
“As the leader, I have already intervened and the matter has been settled amongst ourselves.”
