PTAD’s Director, Pensioner Support Services Department, Mrs Nneka Obiamalu, disclosed this while addressing over 1,000 pensioners who gathered in Jos during a stakeholders engagement forum organised in the North-Central zone of the country.
“Presently, we have 241,897 pensioners that have enrolled under the scheme and we are still counting,” Obiamalu said.
The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Dr Chioma Ejikeme, decried the activities of some unscrupulous elements whom she said were using the scheme to defraud senior citizens.
Ejikeme said, “One challenge we are facing is the issue of fraudsters. We have a situation where some people call our pensioners and tell them that they have to bring a certain amount of money to process their pension. PTAD does not collect money from anybody for pension processing.”
