This was disclosed by the commandant of the Staff College, Enugu, Assist. Corp Marshall, Chidiebere Benjamin Ukwota, who led a delegation of students on a courtesy visit to Governor Udom Emmanuel.
A statement by Ekikere Umoh, the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Moses Ekpo, on Monday said Ukwota commended the state government for it’s continuous effort in providing good road network.
He described the move as an “integral part of the Nigerian road safety strategy” that entails the role of the state in providing road infrastructure.
He explained that the students were on a visit to the state for a “study tour to interact with practitioners, critical stakeholders and to also gain practical experience outside the classroom”
The theme of the study was “Cascading the Nigerian road safety strategy to the sub-national levels”
Responding, Emmanuel who was represented by his Deputy, Moses Ekpo, acknowledged the commendations of the FRSC for delivering high-quality road infrastructure in the state.
“If we have good roads, it is because we place a premium on communication as it will aid us in transporting our farm and commercial products from one point to the other.
“The existence of good roads with signages and regulators will help to minimize carnages on the roads, and the government is willing to partner with the agency to ensure sanity on the roads,” the governor said.
He further added that the state government was committed to “opening Akwa Ibom to the outside world through good roads network, Ibom air as well as through the Ibom deep seaport”
