The library was donated by one of the RCCG Youth Province 1 parishes, Living Seed Church (The Bridge) in collaboration with the Dare Adeboye Foundation.
At the inauguration on June 29, 2022, Adeboye, who serves as the lead pastor of RCCG The Bridge and Assistant Pastor in Charge of Corporate Social Responsibility, RCCG Youth Province 1, noted the importance of education from a young age.
He said, “Education is the most important thing. Even Jesus came to educate the 12 disciples so that they can educate the rest of the world. When you educate a child, you’ve equipped them for life. You can take everything I have away from me, but you cannot take away what is inside my head.”
The Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon Mojeed Balogun, represented by the Supervisor for Education, Hon Pelumi Ologonje, expressed his delight to commission the project.
He noted that projects such as the library, as well as support from individuals, were key to the development of society.
Apart from the books, the new library is also equipped with computers, as the pupils previously had to visit another school for their computer classes.
An abandoned classroom and the school’s toilets were also renovated.
The headmistress of the school, Edith Ehirim, expressed gratitude for the intervention by the church.
Also present at the inauguration was the Head of the Education Department, Ikeja LGA, Folakemi Ajayi, who noted that such a project was an investment into the future of both the current pupils and those yet to be born.
The PUNCH reports that the inauguration is the second CSR project carried out by RCCG, The Bridge, after a hospital drive for new mothers at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in March; hospital bills were paid and patients received mother-child care packages.
