In a statement issued on Friday by the Command Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu, the Command felicitated with the Muslim faithful and urged the citizens of the state to go about their lawful activities during the festivities without fear.
The statement reads, “The Edo State Police Command wishes to felicitate with all our Muslim faithful in the state during this period of Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“In the light of the above, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abutu Yaro, has deployed 3,426 Police and traffic personnel in an effort targeted at decimating crimes and criminality, as well as improving the security of lives and property during and after the celebration.
“The CP has equally charged tactical commanders, DPOs, and their supervisory area commanders in the state to beef-up security in their Area of Responsibility ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
“The CP has also directed that supervisory Area commanders should ensure adequate deployment of officers and assets to prevent the occurrence of crimes and criminality, as well as build confidence among the residents of the state.
“The CP further charge officers and men of the Command to ensure continuous and intensive patrol, stop and search, raids of black spots and crime-prone areas and other anti-crime strategies to ensure public safety during and after the celebration.
“He also warned that personnel deployed are to be professional and civil to the members of the public,” the statement added.
