The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Monday confirmed the arrest of one of the wanted terror suspects who escaped during the invasion of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, Abuja, by terrorists last week.
Over 800 inmates, including all the Boko Haram suspects, were released in an attack on the centre, which the Islamic State in West Africa Province claimed responsibility for.
One of the escapees was later captured by the police over the weekend.
Confirming the arrest of the suspect, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, Femi Babafemi, noted that the fleeing inmate, Suleiman Sidi, was nabbed at Area 1 Motor Park in the Federal Capital Territory.
“He was attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno State, when he was arrested. When he was searched, three wraps of cannabis sativa were found on him
“During a preliminary interview, the wanted terror suspect confirmed he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre for terrorism and robbery charges, adding that he was indeed one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday,” Babafemi added in the statement.
