The Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, made the disclosure in a press statement made available to newsmen in Lafia on Tuesday.
He explained that the officers who arrested the suspects recovered some firearms, cartridges and a stolen vehicle from them.
The statement read in part, “The Nasarawa State Police Command in a bid to reduce crime to its lowest level, carried out an intelligence-led operation against criminals in Karu LGA and its environs.
“The Police operatives attached to New Karu Area Command via actionable intelligence, successfully apprehended the trio of Musa Mohammed, 33 years; Adams Lawal, 32 years; and Mark Friday, 32 years, all males.
“Two locally fabricated pistols, one pump action, seven rounds of live cartridges and one Honda Accord with registration number RBC 570 KZ snatched at gunpoint from a victim at One Man village were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the trio are a syndicate of armed robbers who specialise in car snatching. They attack unsuspecting members of the public who go out very early in the morning to work or business places and snatch their vehicles.
“Further investigation also led to the arrest of one Kayode Olajide, the receiver of the stolen vehicle.”
Nansel said the Commissioner of Police, Adesina Soyemi, had directed that a comprehensive investigation into the case should be conducted, after which the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
