The main opposition party made the call in a statement on Friday by its Caretaker Chairman, DR Akindele Adekunle, and titled, ‘Osun PDP Congratulates Members Over Campaign Grand Finale Success’.
While congratulating leaders and members of the party on the huge success recorded with the grand finale of the party’s governorship campaign on Thursday, Adekunle asked the people to rise to the occasion and play their role as an “army of change” on Saturday.
The PUNCH reports that the Osun PDP had on Thursday held a Mega Rally rounding off the over a month-long campaign with a turnout of party faithful across the 30 local governments in the state.
Adekunle expressed appreciation to Dr Iyiocha Ayu-led National Working Committee of the party, the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar, Governor of Delta State and the vice presidential candidate, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, as well as the National Campaign Council-led by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr Duoye Diri.
Adekunle also expressed joy in the spirit of love and brotherhood, with which leaders of the party in the state embraced and rallied support for Senator Ademola Adeleke, as demonstrated at the rally.
He congratulated the former governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, for his large heart and exemplary leadership before and during the hugely successful rally.
While appreciating the teeming party members and supporters alike for their wonderful conduct throughout the period of the rally, the PDP enjoined them to use the success recorded at the rally as catalyst for Saturday’s election.
“If we could all join forces to record such a feat, even in the face of intimidation and other satanic antics by the APC government, aimed at frustrating us from holding the rally, then we sure can go all out on Saturday like unwavering army of change, and rescue our state from the hands of political rascals once and for all”
“I on behalf of leaders of our great party, the PDP, urge the good people of Osun state to stand up and be counted on Saturday. As sons and daughters of Yoruba Land, nobody can intimidate us when we are ready.
“The big statement made with the Mega Rally was loud and clear to the whole world that we are tired of being enslaved in our own land and that is the statement I enjoin us to make again on Saturday by voting massively for PDP Candidate, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke as the next governor of Osun State” the statement quoted him as saying.
