The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and winner of the just concluded Osun State governorship election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has said that he has brought light to the state.
Adeleke said this shortly after being declared the winner of the governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Tweeting via his verified handle on Sunday, Adeleke said, “I have brought light to Osun State.#Osundecided.”
The PUNCH reports that there has been jubilation in the PDP camp after the emergence of Adeleke at the poll, where polled a total of 403,371 votes beating the incumbent, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who got 375,027 votes in the keenly contested race.
According to the total votes recorded by the electoral umpire, the PDP won 17 of the 30 Local Government Areas of the state, while the APC won the remaining 13.
The PDP won in Ede North, Ede South, Ifelodun, Boluwaduro, Egbedore, Odo Otin, Osogbo, Ila, Atakumosa West, Olorunda, Ilesa West, Obokun, Oriade, Orolu, Ife North, Irepodun, and Ejigbo LGAs.
The APC, on the other hand, won in Boripe, Ilesa East, Ayedire, Ifedayo, Ife Central, Ayedaade, Iwo, Olaoluwa, Isokan, Atakumosa East, Irewole, Ife South, and Ife East LGAs.
It was also gathered that wild jubilation has greeted the home of Adeleke in Ede after his emergence as the governor-elect of the state.
After the declaration of the result, crowd besieged Adeleke’s home in Ede, shouting, ‘imole’ (light), and ‘Ede l’okan’ (it’s Ede’s turn).
Some of them were seen replicating Adeleke’s symbol of placing two fingers close to his eyes.
