The Kwara State Government has said it will soon commence another round of massive primary and secondary school renovation in the state.
The state deputy governor, Kayode Alabi, disclosed this in Ilorin, at the 40th reunion organised by the 1982 set of Play Fair Memorial College, Oro-Ago, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The government had two years ago embarked on the renovation of 600 facilities in primary and secondary schools with a N14b secured from the Universal Basic Education Commission.
Alabi, who hails from the community was represented by his Principal Private Secretary, Ayantola Malomo, who urged old students of schools to spare a thought for their alma mater.
According to him, “The state government has done wonderful things in our community. The government’s touch is visible in Playfair Memorial College, and there are more efforts underway to see that not only the college but most of our primary and secondary schools will be equipped and renovated.
“As a son of the soil, I am doing all I can to ensure my community benefits from the programme. I encourage you to give back more to the school as it is in dire need of infrastructure touch. The school was there for you when you needed it most, so the school needs your attention now,” he said.
The National Chairman of the 1982 set, Mr Mohammed Idris urged his colleagues to rally around and uplift the college to an enviable citadel of learning.
Also speaking at the occasion, the National President of Playfair Old Students Association, a Retired Comptroller of Immigration, Mr James Aboyeji while urging the old students to do more for the college said that the national body had provided a school bus and Computer facilities for the college during its 50th anniversary.
