A two-storey under construction on Ijofin street, Ilesa, Osun State collapsed on Saturday, causing panic in the area.
According to a resident of the area identified only as Olusegun, the incident occurred around 12:45pm.
Olusegun also said the first floor of the affected building collapsed on the ground floor. He also said a passer-by was almost hit by the rubble.
Commenting on the incident, the spokesperson for the Osun Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Olabisi Atanda, said operatives of the corps visited the scene of the incident.
Atanda also said though no life was lost, the command ordered evacuation of residents of the building next to the collapsed one.
She said, “Today, July 23, 2022, a two floor storey building located at Ijofin Street, Wesley Guild Hospital road, Ilesa, collapsed at about 12:45hrs.
“The building is said to have been under construction for the past two years. A bungalow beside the collapsed building is at risk because of the state of the affected building. We have ordered evacuation of residents in the next building. No casualty was recorded. Men of the corps were on ground to provide maximum security.”
