According to a US publication, sportingkc, tickets for the international friendly double-header games between Nigeria and the United States women’s team have begun, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The US Women’s National Team, four-time World Cup champions and four Olympic Games gold winners, will face the nine-time African champions, first at the Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas on September 3, before squaring off again at the Audi Field in Washington September 6.
“Tickets are now on sale for fans to secure seats to see the United States Women’s National Team take on Nigeria on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan. as both teams prepare for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup,” the website wrote.
The Children’s Mercy Park is home to Kansas City in the US National Women’s Soccer League and Sporting Kansas City in the Major League Soccer, while Audi Field is utilised by National Women’s Soccer League side Washington Spirit and Major League Soccer team, DC United.
The USWNT, who are the most successful team in the world, and the Super Falcons, the most successful team in Africa, have both qualified for the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
The back-to-back World Cup champions qualified for the 2023 World Cup and 2024 Olympic Games by winning the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship last month, while the Falcons booked a place at the Mundial after reaching the last four of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco last month.
The Falcons will hope to end their six consecutive defeats to the US when they face off next month.
