A week after the Nigerian songstress made her solo debut at number 90 with her 2020 single, “Free Mind,” on the coveted music chart, fast-rising international star Temilade Opaniyi, or Tems, has achieved her first number one solo position on America’s Billboard.
The singer’s rendition of “No Woman, No Cry,” which was created for the ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ sequel, debuted at number one on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart. Bob Marley, a legendary singer from Jamaica, performed the song’s original version.
She brought back the effect of the ever-green song, ‘No Woman No Cry,’ with her sonorous voice that relished the tear-jerking lyrical content and her resonant delivery that gave goosebumps.
Tems’ ‘No Woman No Cry’ version is from a new extended play (EP) by Marvel Studios ‘Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever.’ The new EP released Monday, July 25, has two other songs, ‘A Body, A Coffin’ by more and ‘Soy’ by Santa Fe Klan.
