The Atiku Support Group has said it will be unfair to say that the presidential standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, “used and dumped” the Rivers Governor, Mr Nyesom Wike.
According to the group, Wike remains a valuable member of the PDP and could not have been used and dumped by the former Vice President.
Wike had explained on Friday (July 29) how Atiku used the occasion of the unveiling of the PDP vice-presidential candidate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, and his appearance on national television to lie against him.
Wike’s allies, Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue) and former Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, had demanded an explanation from Atiku.
Reacting to this, the National Publicity Secretary of ASO, Dr Victor Moses, said anybody saying Wike was dumped by Atiku after using him was unfair.
“He (Wike) remains one of the valuable members of the Peoples Democratic Party. The decision on who becomes the running mate of the candidate was within the prerogative of Atiku himself,” Moses said.
