The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra has criticised the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), over the N1.145 billion gifted to the Niger Republic for the purchase of security vehicles, saying it was uncalled for, especially at a time when Nigeria was in misery.
MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Sunday Okerafor, told Sunday PUNCH that the action amounted to neglecting pressing issues at hand to attend to less important matters in a foreign land.
Nigeria, he said, was faced with biting security challenges both in the nation’s capital and in the home state of the President. He wondered about the rationale behind the president’s gesture.
He said, “We are having security challenges all over the country, even in Abuja and Daura, his (Buhari’s) hometown in Katsina State. There is trouble in Daura, there is trouble in Lagos. There is trouble in the South-East, unknown gunmen everywhere, and Buhari sent the money to the Niger Republic. What is he doing about the security problems in Nigeria?
“He (Buhari) built a highway in Niger and a refinery there. Now gave N1.145 billion to buy security vehicles in Niger to protect their citizens, whereas Nigeria is in a bad shape,”
Okereafor also decried the killing of young people and intimidation of residents in the region. He alleged that the Federal Government was behind an extended plot to Islamise the country.
“You cannot compromise good things with evil. The government of Nigeria is plotting, Islamising, fighting the Igbo, and killing thousands of our youths. MASSOB and the Biafra Independent Movement are asking Buhari: Abuja, Nigeria’s capital is under siege, and you are donating billions to Niger, going to Liberia to speak on security, while the country you are leading is under siege. Who are you deceiving?”
